Founded in 1926, Woodlawn Chapter #93 has proudly served the Greek-American community for nearly a century. As we approach our 100th anniversary in January 2026, we reflect on our enduring legacy of philanthropy, cultural preservation, and civic engagement.

About AHEPA
The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) was founded in 1922 in Atlanta, GA to combat discrimination and support the well-being of Greek immigrants in the United States. Over the past century, AHEPA has grown into a global organization committed to education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and the preservation of Hellenic heritage.
As one of the oldest active chapters in the country, Woodlawn Chapter #93 has been an integral part of AHEPA’s history—serving the broader Chicago-area community with pride, leadership, and cultural dedication.
Highlights and Activities
Throughout the year, Woodlawn Chapter #93 hosts meaningful events and initiatives that support our mission and strengthen the bonds of fellowship.
Centennial Celebration (2026): Woodlawn is proud to celebrate 100 years of brotherhood, service and Hellenic pride. This event will be hosted jointly with our brothers from Chapter #94 North Shore. We Celebrate the rich legacy of both chapters and their contributions to the AHEPA family and communities.
Tentative Date: 100 Centennial Celebration is Saturday January 24, 2026.
Event Programs: We host a variety of social events throughout the year that bring members and the community together. These Events include: celebratory banquets, members recognition events, holiday parties, and casual get-togethers strengthening fellowship and honor our shared culture and service.
Scholarship Programs: Our chapter funds our own scholarship program to assist college bound students in our community. We also support AHEPA District 13 AHEPA National scholarship programs. We take pride in assisting the next generation of oung Greek-Americans across the US.
Fundraising Events: We host many events throughout the year including: Raffles, cultural evenings, and community dinners to support our scholarship and charitable efforts.
Church and Community Support: We work closely with the local parishes and charitable organizations to offer volunteer help, event support, and financial contributions.
Youth Engagement and Service Opportunities: We provide High School students opportunities to earn community service hours throughout by volunteering at chapter events, while encouraging involvement in the Hellenic youth organizations.
James Drousias Memorial Golf Outing & More: We continue to honor the memory of our brother James Drouias through an annual golf outing and fundraiser. In addition, we host a Superbowl and NCAA watch parties, spring raffles, and holiday events that foster camaraderie and community impact.
Organizations & Causes we Support: AHEPA District 13 Education Scholarships, Woodlawn #93 Education Scholarships, AHEPA National Education Foundation, local Church & Community outreach programs, Maids of Athena and Daughters of Penelope initiatives, and Greek Festivals and Cultural Events in the Chicagoland area.
