Chapter #40 - JACMA
Maids of Athena is an international philanthropic and fraternal organization, a sisterhood of young women of Hellenic decent and philhellenes, and a Junior Order of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) and the Junior Auxiliary of the Daughters of Penelope.
The Maids of Athena was founded July 5, 1930 in Tacoma, Washington. The Maids youth group combined with Sons of Pericles have contributed to such worthy causes as: Muscular Dystrophy, Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation, the Special Olympics, St. Basil Academy and Cooley's Anemia research.
The Maids chapter is focused in the Chicagoland, but all are welcome within District 13 area. Young ladies from ages 14 to 28, christian faith of good moral character, is of Greek decent (adopted and foster is included) or is a child of an AHEPAN, DOP, or Philhellene is eligible to join.
Maids is sponsored by AHEPA District 13 lodge. Daughters of Penelope is providing guidance ensuring the Maids efforts are achieved. Allowing female youth to learn and succeed at taking leadership roles, project management, public service, and in person social networking.
