Maids of Athena

Chapter #40 - JACMA

The JACMA chapter of Maids of Athena is a Junior auxiliary of AHEPA. The Maids of Athena was founded July 5, 1930 in Tacoma, Washington. The Maids focus on local and national projects to assist the needy, bring attention to great causes, and have fun doing it. The Maids chapters are structured for success at leadership roles, project management, public service, and philanthropic causes.

The JACMA chapter operates throughout the Chicagoland area. Maintaining a single chapter allows members to reside anywhere with in District 13, meeting new people outside their church/communities, and increase fellowship. Our activities are hosted throughout the Chicagoland area. Allowing everyone to visit and experience all that Chicagoland has to offer. Creating a single sisterhood regardless of where they live.

The map displays where our members reside. Displaying that we reside throughout the Chicagoland area and there is no distance too far to join. The more members that join, the closer we will become. We encourage sharing rides together for some events based on distance.

  • Depending on the event, an AHEPA or Daughters of Penelope chapter may co-host an event allowing the Maids to participate, promote their fundraising efforts and bring awareness.

  • We try to keep membership fees down to ensure they are affordable. New members are $35 initiation fee. After the first year, annual membership fees is $25 per year. Members dues must be submitted by December 31 of each year.

  • Membership fees help pay for some of the National level organization salaries. Other parts of the membership fees used to cover obligations from Maids of Athena National that feeds into scholarship funds and annually selected charities.

  • Fund raising is the only manner for the chapter to achieve their goals to donate to worthy causes. We do not place a minimum requirement on members for fundraising. It is a collective project.

When a child goes for treatment. They are allowed to select a toy from the “treasure chest”. The treasure chest is available all year round, not just during the holidays. Donating towards this great cause goes a long way all year long.
